Cone dark adaptation: the influence of halothane anesthesia.
نویسندگان
چکیده
Cone dark adaptation (da) (measured with an electroretinogram [ERG] method) is found to be severely retarded when the subject (human and macaque monkey) is under halothane anesthesia. The degree of retardation depends both on the halothane level and on the bleach history. The effect of bleach history shows a great similarity with psychophysical findings concerning foveal da. Interpretation of halothane effects, therefore, is possible in terms of an existing model on cone pigment kinetics.

Influence of anesthetics, ethyl alcohol, and Freon on dark adaptation of monkey cone ERG.
Cone dark adaptation curves were measured in a rhesus monkey using the electroretinogram (ERG) response to a 40 Hz flickering stimulus. The influence of anesthetics on the time course of dark adaptation was studied. All volatile anesthetics tested (methoxyflurane, halothane, enflurane, ether, chloroform) retarded dark adaptation but to different degrees; urethane, ethyl alcohol, and Freon 11 al...

Dark adaptation and the rise of cone flicker threshold (25 Hz) during dark adaptation were measured psychophysically in three patients with fundus flavimaculatus. The dark adaptation curve showed a delayed rod-cone break but a normal final rod threshold in all these patients. However, the rise of cone flicker threshold during dark adaptation was not delayed and also reached a normal final value...
متن کاملRetinal morphology and retinomotor response in Caspian kutum (Rutilus frisii subsp. kutum)
In this study, the morphology and organization of the retina of Caspian kutum and fish response to ambient light as retinomotor reaction was investigated. The Rutilus frisii subsp. kutum is an anadromous fish and important native fish specimen of Caspian Sea. The specimens were obtained from Shahid Ansari Teleost Reproduction and Culture center (Guilan province, Iran). For light and dark adapta...
متن کاملA comparison between the effect of halothane and propofol on liver enzymes after general anesthesia
Background: Halothane is the routine used inhalation anesthetic drug in the world but at present, there is an increasing interest for using intravenous anesthetics like propofol. The purpose of this study was to compare these anesthetic effects on hepatic enzymes. Methods: From 2006 to 2007, this study was performed on fifty eight patients classified in class I of American Society of Anesthetics...
متن کاملهپاتیت ناشی از هالوتان: گزارش موردی
Background: Acute hepatitis is upon serious complications of halothane usage, can be associated with 50% mortality in severe cases. Use of halothane as inhalational anesthetic or use of it for maintenance of anesthesia is restricted/ prohibited in USA and most European countries. The occurrence of icterus and elevated liver enzymes after halothane anesthesia may be due to the drug induced hepat...
